A beautifully sturdy heavyweight 270gsm cotton canvas tote, chosen for its premium, substantial feel. Much thicker and more structured than a standard lightweight tote, it’s designed to be used again and again while still feeling special enough to gift.
Measuring approximately 39 × 42 × 13 cm, with gusseted sides, a generous 20-litre capacity and 58 cm handles, there’s plenty of room for books, shopping, market finds and all the little treasures collected on an autumn walk.
Each bag is made to order in my little village studio, helping me avoid unnecessary stock and reduce waste. As every one is individually made, there may be slight variations in placement and finish- part of the charm of something made on a small scale rather than mass produced.
The design features my hand-drawn Autumn Hedgerow Folklore pattern, with a softer, more natural feel inspired by the things you might find scattered beneath trees, tucked into hedgerows or gathered from an old orchard. Crab apples, rowan berries, rosehips, hazelnuts, acorns, conkers and fly agaric are arranged across the fabric in their original illustrated form, without borders, giving this version a more organic and traditional botanical feel.
There’s folklore hidden among the autumn finds too. Rowan was long regarded as a protective tree and used in charms against witchcraft and bad luck, while oak and acorns became symbols of strength, endurance and good fortune. Hazelnuts were associated with wisdom and used in old All Hallows’ Eve divination customs, while apples appear again and again in harvest traditions, fortune-telling games and autumn celebrations. The unmistakable red-and-white fly agaric adds a little woodland mystery, conjuring the enchanted and uncanny side of the forest floor.
This version is perfect if you prefer your autumn a little more earthy, botanical and quietly folkloric- like a collection of hedgerow treasures laid out after a long country walk.
A thick, roomy and reusable canvas bag for folklore lovers, woodland wanderers, foragers and anyone who comes home with pockets full of acorns and conkers.
